7 Reasons 'Grace And Frankie' Will Be Your New Favorite Show

1. It's Part of History

June 26, 2015 was a great summer. Not only did the Supreme Court rule same sex marriage legal across the nation, but it was the summer before I started college!

The first episode starts off with a bang. Showing the repercussions of this supreme court decision. People that were unhappy, finally could live again. These men were liberated. Can you imagine being unhappy your entire life?

2. The Characters Look Like Real People

In an age where looks matter, it is nice to see characters that look normal. I actually love the fact that the main characters are actually not our age. I read somewhere, that it is harder for people above 50 to work in the acting industry. And seeing Grace and Frankie being the main characters brings joy to my life!

3. The Free Life Lessons

Frankie is like the cool hippie, and Grace the uptight one. They are both in a journey together. Most of what they talk about hits home, mainly because it shows that no matter how good you are, or how much you plan your life. Shit will happen!

4. Shows You That No Matter How Hard Life is, You Have to Dance!

Imagine having everything you know shatter when you are in your 70s? You thought that you would be stable by then, but life said “nop”. The best part about this show, is that no matter what, you can count on Frankie to do something that will make you smile. She’s the one character that is always a ray of sunshine, we all need a Frankie!

5. Very Positive/Optimistic Outlook on Life.

There is something in seeing these older women starting all over that motivates me, maybe it’s because I’m 70 years old at heart. It’s 2018, the bullshit is over. If you want something, you get it. You scared? Boo hoo, poor you.

6. Emphasis on Self-love

Get with the program! If you don’t love yourself, then you’re probably a ho. Being healthy is the new black. I know there is a lot of negativity with being “too skinny” or “too fat”, but honestly who cares? As long as your going to the gym, indulging is not the issue here. And if you don’t want to be part of this ‘healthy’ trend, then don’t, it’s okay baby boo.

7. You Will Laugh Your Abs Off!

Half the shit they say, I would of never saw coming. The characters don’t only rip each other a new one, but they also joke about the truth. Because these characters are family, the way in which they interact with each other is insane! I laugh so hard, I’m pretty sure my roommates think I'm loosing it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
