Calling Christmas the most wonderful time of the year is an understatement. The spirit that inhibits people during the holiday season is incomparable. Here are some reasons as to why I believe no holiday compares to christmas.
1. There is nothing better than giving to others.
Whether it is giving gifts to your family and friends, or giving back to your community, giving to others evokes such an amazing feeling. It's a shame some only choose to give during this time of year however since it is more rewarding than any gift you may receive.
2. THE DESSERT.
Christmas cookies, pies, candy canes, and more. Some of these sweet treats only come once a year so forget about the diet you kept telling yourself you were going to start (It's never going to start, let's be real) and dig in!
3. The lights and decorations.
I'm lucky enough to live on a street where everyone goes all out with their decorations and people come from all over to see our neighborhoods one of a kind red, white, and blue lights that line the trees by the road. However I still love driving around to find areas that go all out with their lights as well.
4. The music.
If Christmas music doesn't lift your spirits I'm not sure what will. Michael Buble's Christmas album is my person favorite!
5. New York City is a place like no other.
Between the amazing Radio City Rockettes, the tree in Rockefeller Center, ice skating in Bryant park, and the beautiful window displays in stores like Macy's and Lord and Taylor, there is an endless number of places to visit especially around Christmas time in New York City.
6. The movies.
The list of Christmas movies goes on for days, with classics like White Christmas and more modern films like Elf, and of course my personal favorites, Home Alone 1 & 2. You can check out Christmas movies playing around the clock on ABC family and the Hallmark Channel!
7. Spending time with family.
Despite how dysfunctional my family is, I love coming together to celebrate this special time of year. Whether we're screaming Christmas carols on the ride back from Christmas eve dinner, or blasting music Christmas morning to wake each other up so we can exchange gifts, I wouldn't trade these moments for the world.
