Whatever you do, don't go to Barcelona. I would highly recommend spending your time somewhere else. Barcelona is so beautiful and exciting that your trip would be a lot to handle.
If you need more convincing to never visit Barcelona here are a few reasons:
1. You'll walk so much your feet will go numb.
There is so much to see in Barcelona that you'll hit your 10,000 step count at about 9 a.m. After the 12th mile each day your feet will not be happy with you; but there is so much to do and everything is walkable, so you won't have any other choice.
2. All that walking means you have to eat more.
Eating amazing food multiple times a day gets really old. The tiny and quaint restaurants serve such amazing dishes that you'll often find yourself wanting to eat at the same place for lunch and dinner... but there are so many options you can't let yourself do that. It really is frustrating.
3. The architecture is simply overwhelming.
Every building is beautiful. The infamous Gaudi architecture creates such a unique identity that when you return home, you'll have visions and dreams of the Casa Batllo and La Sagrada Famila. Your architecture expectations are set very high after visiting Barcelona.
4. The nightlife is exhausting.
Talk about FOMO. There is something going on at all hours of the night, every night in this crazy city. I hope you are a night owl!
5. There is too much to do.
You will find yourself struggling to decide which things you are going to squeeze into your visit. There is so much to do that you will be forced to wake up early and go to bed extremely late. Whether it is a day trip to Montserrat or an afternoon spent at Picasso Museum, you'll have to make some tough decisions. If you like sleep, Barcelona simply isn't for you.
7. The metro will ruin your expectations of public transportation.
Getting around in Barcelona is ridiculously easy and the metro is clean and reliable. Your expectations of public transportation will be set so high that returning to your city and dealing with parking and traffic will be tough.
8. You'll run out of money at La Boqueria
La Boqueria is a market that puts all other markets to shame. There are endless tables of neon candy, handmade chocolate and fresh cut meats. Even if you plan on walking through and "just looking", something is sure to catch your eye... so bring your wallet.
9. There are way too many neighborhoods to explore
Every single alleyway is a unique neighborhood of its own. This is frustrating because you can't rely on Trip Advisor to tell you everything you need to know.. If you don't like exploring and finding hidden gems, Barcelona is not for you.
10. Leaving will break your heart
If you prefer to remain in your comfort zone, Barcelona is not for you. You will do things, see things and eat things you had never heard of before and the worst part: you'll never want to leave.
