If you didn't have the pleasure of growing up with a sister, I am terribly sorry. And if you didn't get to grow up with an older sister, then let me shed some light on what you missed out on. My older sister is one of my best friends... who also thinks she's in charge of (more on that later), but I couldn't live without her!

Here are 7 reasons why growing up with an older sister is the best.

1. You can steal her clothes

I've done this plenty of times, and been caught every time. But no worries, your sis will always still love you at the end of the day

2. She decides to be your second mother (but she has your best interests at heart)

My sister tends to forget that she's my sister and not my mom, but nevertheless, I love her for it. I hate to admit it, but most of the time she is right.

3. She can give you tons of boy advice

I'm not saying that boys are the worst, but they sort of are. And chances are your big sister has been through it before you... and she knows just the right words to mend your heart.

4. She's the guinea pig for your parents

She came first, which means your parents dealt with her differently. In my case it meant I got a cell phone before she did, my curfew was later, and my parents weren't as strict on me. And she reminds me every time I see her that it is so not fair!

5. You have a built-in best friend!

You might get on her nerves sometimes or a lot of times... but she has to love you regardless! You were born with not only a sister for life, but she doubles as a BFF.

6. She's your role model

You admire her resilience, work ethic, and you want to be everything she is. She has paved the way for what you hope you can achieve!

7. She will always be honest with you

If that new sweater you bought is just hideous, she will let you know right to your face. She's the only person you can trust to make sure your hair, makeup, and wardrobe are on point.
