While although at times I do get jealous of my friends at big party schools posting on Snapchat and Instagram about the big football tailgate their at, I wouldn't trade my small school for the world. Here are 7 reasons I am happy I chose a small school.
1. Short Walks In the Cold and Rain
My friends at big schools always complain to me about how long their walks are from their dorm to their classes. I can't tell you how thankful I am that my walks between classes are at most 5 minutes. When it rains or is freezing I only have to spend a short amount of time outside. This also means I don't have to wake up that early and I can still get to class on time.
2. Knowing People In Your Classes
It's nice walking into an exam and being able to make eye contact with someone you know so you can both freak our internally together. I am always more comfortable when I know people in my classes. It also makes homework and studying a lot easier.
3. Seeing your friends every where you go

One of my favorite things is being able to walk around campus and always seeing at least one of my friends. It may be from across the quad but getting that little wave always makes my day.
4. Having Your Friends Live Close
Although most of my friends live in the same building as me, those who don't only live a 2 minute walk away. I have heard of schools where you need to take a shuttle to get from dorm to dorm, but here I can just walk outside and be able to see my friend at their room.
5. Professors Know Your Name
A major perk to going to a small school is have a small class size. Your professors actually make the effort to learn your name because the lecture hall you're in is much smaller than 200 students. This enables the student to feel comfortable when approaching the professor about an exam or another class.
6. Always Knowing a Friend of a Friend
No matter where you go you always end up having mutual friends with someone. On campus this happens way too often, but it even happens off campus. Someone could see your college t-shirt and be like "Oh! Do you know so-and-so.." and you're like "OMG they're in my math class!" Never gets old.
7. A Graduation Ceremony That Isn't THAT Long
While graduation ceremonies are inevitably long, at least I know my graduation with 12,000 kids in the class won't be as long a graduation with 3,000 kids in the class. You're welcome Mom and Dad.
