7 Reasons Life Is Better With Coffee

There is nothing better than the smell of fresh coffee in the morning. That lovely, inviting smell that makes you feel like you can survive, as long as you get a cup of that wonderful magical liquid, that is. Whether it's house blend, french vanilla, Colombian or breakfast blend; it doesn't matter. Whichever you prefer. Is it even possible to function properly and handle people without it?

I don't think so. There are a multitude of different reasons that life is better with coffee, and here are just a few.

1. It's a cup of happiness

This is probably the best way to describe a cup of coffee in my opinion. There is no better feeling then that moment the caffeine kicks in and gives your brain and soul a big bear hug. Plus it is often the only reason you leave the house fully clothed and ready to take on the day, or as ready as you'll ever be.

2. The smell

Seriously, can we just take a minute to appreciate the smell of freshly brewed coffee, or just coffee in general? It is the happiest smell there is. The stronger the better. No other flavors needed for the smell to be incredible.

3. Gives you a reason to get out of bed

The struggle to get out of bed is real for a lot of us. It can be a little easier if you know that a cup of coffee is coming your way soon after waking up. It is that motivation that gets you on your feet and ready to try to survive the day. I don't always drink coffee to wake up, more often than not, I wake up to drink coffee.

4. Survival

Not only does it help you survive, it helps the other people around you survive too. It helps to give you the patience to deal with other people. While patience can't always be found at the bottom of the cup, it never hurts to look right?

5. It's a year round treat

Hot or cold, it doesn't matter. Coffee is good either way. And, then there are the ways for both hot and cold. When it's cold outside, just a good old fashioned piping hot cup of coffee is just what you need. Or, why not go for a latte? But when it's hot outside, nothing beats an iced coffee or freshly blended frappuccino to wake you up in the morning and keep you cool.

6. Oh the flavors

Pumpkin, mocha, vanilla, caramel, white chocolate, hazelnut and peppermint -- I mean come on. Does it get any better? You can choose what flavor you are in the mood for. And there are different flavors that come around for each season, like when the leaves start changing color, all of a sudden, pumpkin everything. Including those famous pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks.

7. The bigger the better

The bigger the cup the better. Is there such a thing as a cup of coffee that is too big? Unless it's a bad cup of coffee, then maybe not. But a good cup is never too big.

It was best said a few times by Lauren Graham's character Lorelei Gilmore, "I need coffee in an IV." And, when asked if she liked coffee, "Only with my oxygen." No truer words have ever been spoken. So for all my fellow coffee addicts out there, may your coffee be strong and may it kick in before reality does.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
