Going Home Is Just One Big Challenge Of Learning How To Cope

7 Reasons Why Being Home Is Different
glamcheck.com

Don't get me wrong, I love being home but it's like a whole new world. There are so many differences and some of them are good, but others are just plain hard to cope with.

1) I can't go anywhere, anytime.

In college you can literally go anywhere, anytime you want to. Then you go back home and everything is different. Personally, my mom
is a fond believer of “my house, my rules” and she prefers I not go out without 2-weeks notice and documentation about with whom, what will happen, where it will happen, and when the requested event will occur.

2) All you want to do is hang out with your college friends…

Unfortunately for you, your friends happen to be, what seems like, 10 hours away. In reality, they're only 3 hours away, but it changes nothing.

3) Finding an old friend to hang out with is almost impossible.

Especially when all your high school friends have everyday jobs. Or study abroad. Or are on vacation. It's even worse when you're only home for about a month so those
friends studying abroad, yeah you can forget that option. You usually just end up
settling for those friends from high school that you always played nice with, but in all actuality, you hate every fiber of their being.

4) Mothers.

Need I say more? My mom enjoys trying to set me up with any bachelor she deems fit. “Oh, you're single? My daughter's single. She's nice.

You'd like her", or “Your friend was pretty cute. What's his name? What is his family like? Is he single? Where does he see himself in 5 years?” Moms can be
the worst when you come home, except when they make you food and pay for
your everyday expenses. Then they're the best.

5) You quickly find out that you're actually an alcoholic.

Remember all those times where you just had a minor urging for some alcohol? Yeah well, those are
at an all time high since returning home. I mean, sure my mom might let me drink on occasion but my ability to get hammered is greatly diminished.

6) Frat parties are no longer just a short walk down the street.

Possibly the worst part about being home is the fact that frats aren't a short drunken walk
down the road. When you're at home, if you pregame for a party you better find
an Uber or a DD. And DDs are far and few between. Plus, the parties during the
summer just aren't the same as your favorite frat parties back at school. Not to mention your walk of shame is completely different since you're not just down the street or a couple of steps away from your dorm. Instead, you're a solid 20-minute drive from your bed.

7) So. Much. Netflix.

I don't think I've ever watched more Netflix than I have since being home. Personally, I start my day at 11:00 a.m. or noon with at least 2 episodes of "Grey's", "How to Get Away with Murder," or one of the other 10,000 shows I'm currently watching. Then I'll do something useful with my life. And then at roughly eight I'll retire to my room and binge-watch movies and TV shows until 2:00 a.m., which is roughly when my eyes just can't hold themselves open any longer. It's a never ending cycle of Netflix and responsibility. But mostly just Netflix. Maybe I should get another job...

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
