7 Reasons Why I Can't Wait For The Release Of 'Doom'

"Doom" is one of the most influential, inspiring and intense games to ever grace our computers. Now Bethesda Softworks is reviving this amazing game franchise and I can't wait.

1. Nostalgia.

First released Dec. 10, 1993, this game and its subsequent franchise eventually swept through the video game industry. It eventually overtook Microsoft 95 (the latest operating system at the time) in being the most installed software worldwide. With such a wide range, the most avid fans of the first-person shooter genre pay homage to this iconic title.

2. It's one hell of a good time.

If you're looking for an intense gaming experience with lots of guns and way more gore, "Doom" is your game. You can always count on having a great time while blasting, slicing or beating your way through the armies of hell. With a wide variety of weapons and ways to take out your enemies, you'll never be bored.

3. It gets "back to basics."

With the release of "Doom 3" in 2004, "Doom's" original concepts were pushed aside for darker, scarier and more sinister gameplay. Now, with the upcoming release of "Doom" in May 2016, those original ideas are being brought back into a medium that's grown stagnant. Hopefully, this renewed outlook on the original way "Doom" was played and the ideas behind it will come through.

4. New studio, new approach.

With Bethesda Studios taking the helm on a long-awaited ID Studios project, new life will be breathed into one of gaming's most oldest, iconic and extremely entertaining franchises. Bethesda's success with other ID titles such as "Wolfenstein: The New Order," gives me hope that this reincarnation of one of my favorite franchises will be nothing but superb.

5. Hell never looked so good.

The game's graphics are based on the ID Tech 6 game engine. Beta versions of the games look pretty awesome, with an Alpha looking more incredible. In any case, the game looks to be awe inspiring. With each explosion, dismemberment and run through of the games levels, I become convinced of much how much hard work and dedication the developers put into this project.

6. Multiplayer mode.

"Doom's" new multiplayer allows for players to be immersed in an experience as good as the original was. With new multiplayer modes, power-ups and even the ability to become a demon! This new multiplayer is showcasing a more versatile way to play online.

7. "Doom" SnapMap

User-generated content was one of the staples that sets "Doom" apart from the rest of the market. Now with "Doom" SnapMap, you create your own levels, game modes and structure unique play styles that are only limited by your ingenuity.

The "Doom" series as a whole is such an amazing franchise and one that I often love to engage in. What looks like mindless shooting on the surface is more deep and rooted in our culture in so many interesting and intricate ways. With 20+ years of lore and history, "Doom" has cemented itself into gaming culture and lore. "Doom" 2016 looks to revamp and revitalize the industry with its grizzly style, intense atmosphere and amazing assortment of unique weapons and demons. Doom is an awesome franchise, and I am a lifelong supporter and fan of ID, "Doom" and Bethesda. I couldn't be happier with the release of this game.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
