Growing up, I have been so lucky to have such a close-knit family, but being close to my mother has made me the strongest, happiest, brightest and luckiest daughter in the entire world. Having a mother-daughter relationship that has no boundaries and continues to benefit me as I grow has been such a blessing. We are able to talk about anything and everything, and she knows me better than anyone else. Her continuous sacrifices are constant reminders that we should always focus our time and energy on the ones we love. She has taught me lessons I would never be able to learn anywhere else. So, here is to all those girls who are lucky enough to say their mother is their best friend, and here is a list of just some of the wonderful perks that go along with it.

1. Constant support.

A mother's job is never over, especially when we begin to enter our adult lives. The continuous stress and tests that life hands us are reminders that life is not always easy, but a mother's advice and never ending willingness to listen to your problems can take away the pain of becoming an adult.

2. Fights are always temporary.

Yes, they may happen every now and then, but the fights between a mother and her daughter are temporary road blocks to an even closer friendship.

3. She knows what makes you happy.

And it's her main goal. Being a momma's girl means mani-pedis, boy talk, binge watching "Sex and the City" or just talking for hours. Whatever makes you happy, it is her priority.

4. She expresses how proud she is of you, always.

Living your life to make other people proud is always frowned upon, but when you're a momma's girl, your No. 1 objective is to make her the happiest person in the world, as her's is to make you the same.

5. Heartbreak is a hell of a lot easier.

One broken heart after another, a mom knows exactly how to handle the situation. She was your age once after all! A good cry with your mom and some words of encouragement that nothing lasts forever is the best part about your mom being your closest friend.

6. You aspire to be exactly like her.

When you grow up being close to your mom, she becomes the epitome of what you think a woman should be. She is smart, beautiful, loving and focused on making her family happy. You thrive to be like her because she is the most amazing person in your life.

7. She is, and always will be, your best friend.

Nothing can come between you and your mom when she is the center of your world. A phone call or night in with her become your fondest memories because you shared them with your favorite person. She is the most genuine person in your life and you couldn't image a life without her.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
