Eight movies. Seven books. One story. Harry Potter is definitely a craze in our generation. It is the the story that never dies that lived. It is the story that our generation grew up with since the very beginning. We grew up with Harry Potter and we saw the story develop. Underneath the magic and the fight, there are many underlying messages that we have learned. Sure, there is no such thing as house elves and Polyjuice Potions (or is there?), but the story has taught us many life lessons. Here are 7 lessons Harry Potter has taught us throughout the years.
1. Real friends will stick with you through anything, no matter how much trouble you may be in.
No matter what the gang goes through, you will always see Harry, Hermoine, and Ron side by side. You will see each person in the story get in some trouble, but nonetheless the others are right there ready to help out in any way possible.
2. You will go to great lengths to protect the ones you love.
We see many people go to great lengths to protect their loved ones. One of the first examples of this is when Harry's mom was murdered to save him. Harry has protected his friends many times, and many people have protected Harry.
3. True love never dies.
Severus Snape never shows any affection (or emotion, really) until we see him think of Lily. The most heart breaking movie scene is when he was holding Lily's dead body after Voldemort murdered her. He had always been in love with her.
4. People aren't what they seem.
We definitely can't judge a book by it's cover. We see that many characters are not what meets the eye, especially in Sirius Black's case. Everyone thought he was crazy, until we find out he was quite the opposite.
5. Good always wins.
Good vs. evil is quite the battle, even for today's world. The battle between good and evil is one heck of a fight, but in the end, good always prevails. Harry and his friends are always fighting Voldemort and in the end, they defeat evil.
6. Just because they aren't blood related doesn't mean they aren't family.
Harry shows us that it is possible to pick our own family. He had very few actual family members that were blood related. His family did not consist of blood-related family members, but rather the opposite. His family became his two best friends, classmates, professors, etc.
7. Magic is real.
It can exist in different ways, but we have learned that magic is real. Magic can be anything, you just have to believe.
"It is important to remember that we all have magic inside us." - J.K. Rowling
