7 Fun Things To Do In Middle Tennessee This Summer

Tennessee is the kind of place that makes it hard to be bored, especially in the summer. There are countless festivals, attractions, rivers and trails that are waiting to be visited and explored. Below I’ve listed six-day trips and events that are essential for the Middle Tennessee summer experience.

1. Take a day trip to a small town.

There are plenty of hidden towns throughout Middle Tennessee, and they certainly have a lot to offer. Take a trip to Columbia, Tennessee, or Leiper’s Fork for good food, music, and plenty of local shopping.

2. Kayak, canoe, paddle board, and so much more.

Whether you spend your day on the Cumberland, Buffalo, Tennessee, or even the Duck River, you won’t regret the decision. Middle Tennessee is full of adventures and places waiting to be explored.

3. Take a hike.

There isn’t a shortage of trails in this state, that’s for sure. Whether you visit Fall Creek Falls, take your pick of Natchez Trace trails, or try for something a little less known and a little more local, you’re sure to enjoy your day out in nature. Middle Tennessee is home to some of the most beautiful trails and waterfalls (I’d say Burgess and Fall Creek Falls are must sees).

4. Go to the CMA Fest in Nashville.

CMA Fest is one of the biggest things Nashville puts on, and every year the city is filled with country music fans and artists alike. This year it begins June 9th, but hurry, tickets are quickly selling out.

5. Visit a winery.

If you’re looking for a fun, quiet afternoon, this is the thing to do. Middle Tennessee is full of beautiful vineyards with an assortment of wines and tours. MT is home to Arrington, Natchez Hills, Amber Falls, and many, many more!

6. Check out the Nashville Zoo.

This is one of my personal favorites. The Nashville Zoo is a great place for families as well as friends. With reasonable prices and a great location, taking a day trip here is a no-brainer.

7. Attend the Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival.

This festival is one of the biggest in the state. Portland, Tennessee, is here to help everyone “celebrate your favorite red berry” with plenty of activities and contests to make every strawberry lover’s day.

That being said, there is so much more to do in the area. Tennessee is lucky to be comprised of communities that are always looking to be involved and put on fun events for everyone.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
