New Years Resolutions are made in hopes of becoming a better person, or creating better habits than you had the year before. Unfortunately, some of these resolutions are unrealistic or we simply lose interest. Here are 7 easy and completely do-able New Year resolutions.
1. Save money
As a college student saving money is definitely not my strong suit. Most of the time I don't have extra money to save, however I think its important to take $15-20 out of every paycheck just to have. It could come in handy for last minute road trips, late night coffee or maybe a broken phone screen here and there.
2. Give back/ volunteer
The most valuable thing a person can give is their time. Often times the people you volunteer to help teach you way more than you could ever teach them. Don't ever let yourself get so big that you refuse to help others.
3. Make better grades
While college is supposed to be the best time of your life, its important to remember that you are paying to be there. Your grades will determine your future. High school grades simply needed to be good enough to get into college, but your college grades will determine how easy or how challenging it will be to land your dream job.
4. Call family more.
My family is one of my biggest supporters, and I am guilty of not talking to them enough. it's easy to get caught up in the college scene, but it's important to remember that while you're entering your next stage of life, they're entering their next stage of life. So give them a call. It doesn't have to be long, just a quick call to let them know you're thinking about them.
5. Take a random road trip.
I'm a very spontaneous person. My plan is to not have a plan. That's personally my favorite thing, and I believe that's when you make the most memories. So next time you get the sudden urge to just go somewhere; follow it. Call your best friends, pack the car, and just go until you get tired of driving. I promise you won't regret it.
6. Focus on what makes you happy.
Make 2017 the year of YOU. Do what makes you happy, go for a long walk, take a road trip, binge watch Netflix, meditate, literally do whatever makes you happy. I think we can all agree 2016 was a stressful year, filled with hatred and violence. Make sure in 2017 you put yourself first.
7. Spend less time with electronics.
Go outside, unplug yourself and enjoy the free things in life. A 30 minute walk with your friends will make you feel better than any amount of "likes" ever could. So go outside, be inventive and don't rely on technology to entertain you.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
