7 Easy Ways to Save Money In College

If you're anything like me, being a college student means that you're almost always broke. Even if you do have a job, it is extremely hard to save money when you have a regular part-time job. But with a little bit of work, saving money can definitely can be done. Although it does take time, you will be very happy once you realize how much you can save with a little bit of effort. You will definitely be a little less stressed and your bank account will be blessed.

1) Every time you get some cash, save it.

Yes, this sounds easier than it actually is. But if you're anything like me, then you don't acquire cash that often because you are always using your debit or credit cards. You can deposit it into a savings account and usually it can add up pretty quickly.

2) As soon as you get paid, put 25% of your paycheck into a savings account.

This is another simple way to save money. If you are putting 25% into your bank account whenever you get paid, it will eventually add up over time and you'll have a good chunk of money to fall back on.

3) Make a budget for yourself per week and per month.

This is also a very simple way to save some money. If you are making a budget for yourself and only allotting a certain amount to be spent each week and each month, it helps you save the extra money that you didn't think about beforehand.

4) Carpool.

Ok, this might sound a little bit silly. It actually really helps. If you have a car at college and you need to go places extend the offer to others. This will help save money in the long run because you aren't spending so much on gas. You could even see if you lived close to anyone in your classes and carpool with them to class.

5) Recycle textbooks.

We all know how expensive textbooks are and by recycling them, it can easily save you hundreds of dollars. See if anybody in your major has already taken classes and ask if you can buy the books from them. Also see if anybody needs the books you have already used and sell them for a good price.

6) Take a hold of student discounts.

As college students we are often not realizing how many places give out student discounts. This includes many of the places we go regularly. Always make sure to ask if the place you are at has any student discounts. It can save you some money here and there.

7) Pay Interest.

Many students in college decide to get credit cards in order to build credit before they go out in the real world. Make sure to only spend as much as you can pay off. Also, make sure to pay the interest so that you are not eventually paying interest on the interest.

With just a little bit of hard work, you can easily save money to have when you really need it. It is good to have a little bit of a cushion especially as a college student. You'll also be able to do so much more once you start saving because you won't be worried about spending the last cent in your bank account.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
