7 Date Ideas For Southeastern Michigan Couples This Fall

It's back! This Fall, these date ideas will make your date plans that much more exciting. Southeastern Michigan is one of the best places for exciting dates for all couples! Enjoy my favorite season with these date ideas.

1. Dessert Oasis in Rochester, MI

Not only does Dessert Oasis have a great atmosphere like Central Perk from FRIENDS, the drink options are out of this world. With the most intricate designs made on top of their drinks from cappuccinos to Chai Tea, they have something for everyone. A few of my own recommendations include the Chai Tea Latte, fondue, and Captain Crunch Cheesecake. The shop even hosts bands on select nights of the week! Whether you're headed out for a study date or relaxing night out, Dessert Oasis should be a cozy date night for this fall. Visit their website for more information about the Rochester and Detroit locations.

2. Terror on Tilson Street in Romeo, MI

Looking to partake in the Halloween festivities without breaking the bank? Terror on Tilson Street is a FREE event that takes place on Tilson Street in Romeo, MI. While the street is always open to the public, the homes of Tilson Street transform as Halloween nears. Homes turn into haunted houses that take on the personality that their owner creates. Personally, I recommend waiting until about two weeks before Halloween to go just because the homeowners put out all the stops just before Halloween. Top the night off by visiting the Dairy Queen up the road and you have got yourself a date that will thrill… see what I did there. Check out their website for more information.

3. Scarecrow Fest 2016 in Frankenmuth, MI

The Frankenmuth Scarecrow Festival takes place on Saturdays and Sundays on October 15-16 & 22-23, 2016 from 12:00pm - 6:00 pm at Frankenmuth River Place Shops. This event is more of a day out for parents and their children and all ages alike. Let’s be honest, most parents do not have time to go on dates, especially without their children, so this event is perfect for parents and their kids as a “family date”. The event hosts a competition where stores along the River Place have to decorate the best scarecrows! Looking at the schedule, some events include a pumpkin catapult, live music, and Doggie Trick or Treating for those couples with Furry Friends. For more information, be sure to visit Frankenmuth’s website!

4. Erebus Haunted Attraction in Pontiac, MI

Looking for a haunted night out? Look no further than one of the top rated haunted attractions in Michigan. Erebus is a four story haunted house that has been running for 16 years, which means that this attraction is sure to tap into your darkest fears. Guys, if you want your girl (or guy, again no judging) to be clinging onto your arm the whole time, this is the date for you. Or who knows, girls, you may have your date clinging onto your arm, after all it is 2016. Regardless, for more information on conquering the beast that is Erebus, head to their website for more information.

5. The Color Run Night 5k at Belle Isle in Detroit, MI

Are you more of an active date kind of person? The Color Run Night is up your alley. The Color Run Night is a take on the original color run, but as you can imagine, it’s at night. If you head over to the website, you can sign up for the run being held on October 29th, 2016. Make sure to get all the neon clothes out of the closet because you are going to need it for this event! With a DJ and the views of the city of Detroit, this will be a date to remember.

6. Zombie Paint Ball at Blakes Cider Mill in Armada, MI

Do you and your significant other love the idea of the Walking Dead? Blake's Big Apple is bringing that idea to reality with Zombie Paint Ball. Board one of these "army units" pictured above and fend off the zombies that will try to attack you throughout your experience. Safari dates include September 30 through October 2nd, October 7th through the 9th, October 14th through the 16th, October 21st through the 23rd, and October 28th through the 30th. Tickets can be purchased onsite or on the website! Top off the night with some cider and donut, cozy up around the bonfire, and enjoy the DJ that is at Blake's every Friday and Saturday! Please check out their website for more information.

7. Michigan Craft Beer Stroll in Royal Oak, MI

If you and your significant other or potential date night are craft beer fans, then this event is for you! The Michigan Craft Beer Stroll will take place on October 1st, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. This tour will not only benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Oakland and Macomb Counties, but lets you try some of the best food and beer in Royal Oak. The tour is $40 online and $50 the day of. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
