Thousand Wonders

Who doesn't want to get outside in the summer for a fun date night? Sometimes it seems like all the fun things to do in the area are outside your college budget. Luckily, we live in a city with plenty of entertainment to keep you busy all summer! Here is a short list of some destinations that you and your sweetie can enjoy. (Don't worry if your relationship status is "single" – it will be just as fun with your best friend or with the whole family!)

1. Chain of Lakes

Think Central Park without the food vendors. You will have the opportunity to walk, bike, run, and more along the trails, or even hop in a canoe and enjoy a relaxing ride through nature. Not only is this good exercise, but it's also quality time with your significant other! When you're done for the day you can pop into the city for a quick bite to refuel yourselves!

2. Prospect Park Water Tower

Known by the locals as the "Witch's Hat Tower," it rises through the trees of the park to reveal a beautiful view of the nature of the park as well as the Minneapolis skyline. You'd better mark your calendars, though, because the tower is only open one day of the year! The tower is closed to the public except for the Friday after Memorial Day. If you're willing to climb the 100+ stairs, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama if the beautiful city. Don't forget your camera!

3. Minnehaha Park and Falls

This park is fun for everyone- even you furry friends! There are tons of trails and open space to burn off some energy, and even some quiet spots to have a picnic! Come here for a quick run, a leisurely stroll, or an all-day adventure.

4. Hidden Beach

If you're a more alternative couple, this beach might be perfect for you. This beach is a bit hipster, but all fun! It bears this name because in order to reach this hidden gem you must follow multiple winding paths. Due to the secluded nature of the beach, and many locals' alcohol consumption, it temporarily became a nude beach in years prior. Since then, there have been more regulations put in place for alcohol use, and now is an enjoyable getaway from the buzz of city life.

5. Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

You knew the spoonbridge and cherry sculpture would make the list. It's a gorgeous icon of this city! It might be an oldie, but it's still a goodie! Pick a weekend when it's clear and sunny, and enjoy the unique piece of modern art that has impressed Minnesotans for decades! There are also numerous other works of art to admire with your sweetheart.

6. Como Park Zoo And Conservatory

This attraction is extremely impressive, especially considering the fact that it is free! You won't have to shell out tons of money to have an amazing day with your better half. The zoo is home to all your favorite animals, and the conservatory is so breathtaking that it hosts weddings within its walls! When you enter the zoo there is a place to make a donation, and the zoo suggests $2 per guest. A small price to pay for a day away!

7. St. Anthony Falls

Take a walk across the Stone Arch Bridge to enjoy a view of St. Anthony Falls, a beautiful natural waterfall located on the Mississippi River. It is a breathtaking sight at any time of the day, and is a perfect activity for a breezy summer day!

You don't have to break the bank to have an amazing time in this gorgeous city with your significant other! Minneapolis has so much to offer people of all kinds, and is just waiting to be explored! That means there's no excuse to stay in this summer--so lace up your shoes and grab your sweetie for an amazing summer date!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
