Nothing reminds me of back home more than listening to my dad's music - which constantly plays in our house. While reminiscing and going through some songs I used to hear all the time, I realized how relaxed they were - therefore crafting this playlist. Enjoy!
1. On The Turning Away - Pink Floyd
This song is a life-changer. Kick back, listen to these lyrics, and prepare to be impressed. On The Turning Away promotes peace and helping one another. Even if you don't feel like analyzing the amazing lines in the song, you're sure to enjoy a powerful guitar solo towards the end. This song just simply feels right.
2. Love Will Keep Us Alive - Eagles
On a more emotional note, Love Will Keep Us Alive will hit you right in the heart. The vocals are smooth and soothing - perfect for relaxing. Be careful though, you might need a box of tissues because this song is so sweet and cheesy.
3. Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones
You can't have a classics playlist without a Rolling Stones song. This slower tune of theirs is a nice change of pace from their rock style. I'm pretty sure I've heard this one at least a thousand times while floating around in the pool during my younger years.
4. Oh! Darling - The Beatles
The Beatles make everything feel right. What more needs to be said? Oh! Darling has that older sound to it which I find so comforting. I could listen to this one for days.
5. Landslide - Fleetwood Mac
I think just about everybody knows this song, but I couldn't resist putting it on the playlist anyway. (AND NO, IT'S NOT ORIGINALLY BY THE FREAKING DIXIE CHICKS!) Fleetwood Mac is a band that just takes you away, reflected perfectly by the free spirit that is Stevie Nicks. Kick back and close your eyes to get lost in her unique vocals. (May cause drowsiness.)
6. Tiny Dancer - Elton John
This one was hard because honestly, Elton John has no bad songs and he was essential to this playlist. My favorite of his has to be Tiny Dancer though, just because I love the way the piano sounds.
7. I'm On Fire - Bruce Springsteen
I had to save the best for last. This is one of The Boss's most loved songs and everyone should be reminded of it. It has an extremely different feel than most of Springsteen's other music, which is what makes it so special. I like to play this one on night drives home.
I hope these songs will find their way onto your playlists as well.
