7 Blessing To Be Counted

1. Bowling

Anyone who knows me, or has even heard of me, knows me as "that one kid who's really into bowling". This sport has given me so many lovely opportunities to grow, challenge, and express myself. I would not be the Jacob I am today without bowling.

2. My Parents

I'm not entirely sure how I got so blessed, but I thank God every day for my incredibly hard working, loving, and motivational parents. I have never gone a day needing for something that they haven't provided for me. Thank you for supporting my dreams and always believing that there's nothing I can't do. I won't let you down.

3. My Friends Back Home

You know who you are. I appreciate you all keeping in contact, thousands of miles a part, and forming one heck of a support group. Mitchel, Cait, Tim, Lyric, Kev, KT, Ashley, everyone, thank you so much for your genuine character and for your friendship.

4. My Sister

She already knows everything I could say, so enjoy of few of our greatest memories. Love you sis,

"crab cake"

5. Wichita State University

It's crazy to think I have been here for almost an entire semester, but nonetheless I wouldn't trade it for anything. From the people, to the bowling, to the education, this place has a piece of my heart. Thank you WSU.

6. Starbucks

From Mochas, to iced coffees, to lattes, my money has, and will continue to be spent at this magical place. There is just something about Starbucks that cures any sort of 'under the weather' feeling I have. Starbucks was also my home base in high school. You know that one person who is always sitting in Starbucks whenever you stop for coffee? I am that guy.

I AM THAT GUY.

7. Team USA Trials

This is definitely my favorite tournament to bowl every year. It kicks off the new year passionately, as I get the opportunity to follow my dreams for an entire week in the amazing city of Las Vegas. I always learn so much and have so much fun doing it. Beyond blessed for this opportunity every year.

As thanksgiving week passed, I really had time to reflect on the things I was most thankful for. It's so easy to take things for granted and expect that they be there for us. Living every day with a grateful attitude is the only way to live and find true happiness in all you do. I hope this inspired you to think about some of the things you are grateful for in your life.

Glory to God in the highest for all these things.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
