Spanish class, am I right? You either loved that class or totally hated it. But regardless of your personal feelings, there was no better lessons than the ones where your teacher put on some tunes. If you are like me, you got these songs completely stuck in your head, but couldn’t remember the names. Well, below are seven classic songs for Spanish class to jog your memory.
Colgando en tus manos by Carlos Baute feat. Marta Sánchez
A super catchy chorus that you will be able to pick up regardless of your Spanish speaking ability. If you are looking for a great song to karaoke with your bestie, you found it right here.Tu Angelito by Chino y Nacho
How cute is this song? I adore this song and full disclosure, this song is what convinced me to dive deeper into Spanish music.
Gasolina by Daddy Yankee
For when you are so over Gas Pedal.
La Camisa Negra by Juanes
Spanish Class had your break ups covered too. This song is pretty upbeat for a song about getting your heart stomped on, but regardless it’s a great song, and so are the rest of Juanes’s songs (listen to Fotografía and try not to weep)
Me Voy by Julieta Venegas
For some reason, I listened to plenty of breakup songs in my Spanish class, probably because they are slower and it’s easier to hear the lyrics. Regardless, this song is super soothing so you can just listen to it on repeat and get lost in your thoughts.
Heroe by Enrique Iglesias
Ok, yes I realize this playlist is getting sad, but how could I not include Enrique Iglesias?
Waka Waka by Shakira
If you didn’t get to hear this song in Spanish class, I feel sorry for you. There is no better way to end a school day then getting this song stuck in your head. Mind you, I’m picking this Shakira song in particular because it is a Spanish class staple. Do yourself a favor and listen to all, and I seriously mean all, of Shakira’s Spanish songs. We don’t call her a goddess for no reason.
Here are two bonus songs that I used for Spanish class projects that you might not have heard of but will definitely love.
Mi Niña Bonita by Chino y Nacho
I’m not going to lie, I’m straight up obsessed with this song. I adore it and can play it on repeat for hours on end without getting sick of it. The lyrics are so catchy and the language is basic enough that you will be able to understand the song, that is, until they start rapping.
1977 by Ana Tijoux
This is the expert round right here. This Spanish rap song is where it’s at. Put this song on to instantly feel like a baller. You won’t understand much of what she is saying on the first listen though. If you are a Breaking Bad fan you might have heard this song before, as it was featured in the episode “Shotgun.”
