Smart phones are great. You literally have the world at your fingertips. Odds are, if you have a smart phone, you've got apps on it.
You can tell a lot about a person by the apps on their phone. Some apps are special to us and have earned a permanent place on our home screens... but some are more tentative, constantly being re-downloaded and deleted depending on our data, storage, and frustrations.
Here are some apps that I just know you've downloaded, deleted, and re-downloaded time and time again:
1. Tinder
You knew this was coming. You get lonely, download Tinder, and its fun for a little bit. Messaging people and swiping left and right becomes your new pass-time. But, inevitably, the thrill wears off and you delete it. Just when you least expect it, that curious little pang in your heart forces your little thumb to the app store where you find yourself typing in "tin.." and the cycle begins again.
2. MyFitnessPal
You have a friend who lost 20 pounds in a month using this, right? People swear by it. So you decide it wouldn't hurt to be a little healthier, so you try it out. Now you're obsessively tracking the nutrition of everything you eat and you're SO into it. You won't eat a meal until you've tracked your last one, and your conversations start with things like "did you know there's like tooooons of sugar in that yogurt you're eating?" But, alas, after 2 weeks... you track less and less and you find yourself deleting it. No worries though-- once bikini season is here again, so will MyFitnessPal.
3. Yelp
Yelp is great. But, it's the kind of app that you aren't constantly checking. It only gets a temporary place on your phone when you've had an excellent (or really terrible) experience at an establishment, or if you're trying to find the restaurant in town with the best reviews. For these reasons, Yelp often gets the boot.
4. Facebook Messenger
Seriously, why must there be a separate app for messages on Facebook???? Does Facebook not know how many messages go unread because people don't have the storage for both??! This app constantly goes back and forth between being worthy and unworthy of a place in my phone.
5. Pic Stitch
Back when people still made crazy collages for their friends' birthdays, Pic Stitch was the go-to. But, if you weren't making a big ole' collage with every embarrassing picture you have on your phone of your friend, there was really no need for it. Alas, it only made occasional appearances.
6. Your School's App
For me, it's UGA. I never use it unless I need that one small detail about something. Once I've figured it out, you bet it's getting deleted.
7. THAT Game
Fruit Ninja. Candy Crush. Temple Run. Cooking Mama (if you're my roommate...hi Carol). You know you have that one game that you can spend an hour on without even realizing it. You think, "omg this is such a distraction!!!! DELETE!" But you know it'll be less than a week til it's back on your phone. Quit these games.
