Just recently I traveled into the world where all dreams come true. Yes, that is right, Disney World. An entire world full of magical happiness and yet there are some annoying aspects of visiting the magical kingdom. In all of Disney’s glory, it does bring in a wide pool of individuals to enjoy the park, which can become a nuisance given how many people can fit in the park. I know that the place is magical, but you would think they would organize bigger walkways or something to make it easier to get places. I have been to Disneyland more times than I can count and I pretty much know the park like it was my own backyard; yet somehow, after each visit, I magically forget how annoying and bothersome it can be to get from point A to point B there. My family does not just leisurely stroll around the park and take the time to decide what’s next. We are very fast paced, always walking with a purpose and a place to be, and we have mastered the Fast Pass System to a T. If you have ever been to a Disney Park you will definitely understand the following nuisances, and if you have not been to a Disney theme park…go put on the cone of shame.
1. The double wide strollers
The double wide strollers should be banned. Okay I might be dramatic, but they are immensely annoying. I have been run over, run off the road, and stuck behind these double wide strollers. They make it very difficult to pass people on busy day at the park. And for someone like myself and my family we are always trying to get somewhere and these strollers surely make it difficult.
2. The scooters
There is nothing like seeing a completely capable walking person stand up from a scooter to walk to something. Perhaps there is an underlining medical condition my eyes cannot see, but I do know that there are perfectly capable people using those scooters. I have seen wobbling 99-year-olds walking through the park and two seconds later I pass someone who is capable of walking. Scooters are just another thing to take up space, so if you do not need it you should not have it.
3. The over-an-hour wait time
Disney is constantly updating their parking by adding new attractions, and lands to visit. Just while I was here in the park I saw a wait time for the new Dwarf Mine Train ride that was over 3 hours long...Why would anyone wait that long for 5-minute ride? I rode the same ride 4 times and the longest I waited was 45 minutes. Planning and checking the app can help save time so you are going on more rides instead of standing in a line the whole day.
4. The parades
The parades at Disney are absolutely spectacular in every way, from the music, to the dancing, and the characters, but after the first time you don't need to see it again. And just while you are over at Space Mountain you think to yourself "Now is a great time to go ride Pirates!" Except there is a ginormous parade up and down the middle splitting the park in half...how convenient Disney.
5. The roadblocks
You know, those people that were once walking at a good pace that suddenly stop right in front of you. It honestly baffles me when people do this in the middle of the walkway like there are not a million other people trying to walk. Step off to the side if you need to pull out your map or say something to your child, but please do not just stop in front of people, because you will be run over.
6. The inconvenient ride renovation
It is always your favorite rides or the rides you have not had the chance to ride that seem to be down for refurbishment or is broken. I experienced this with two rides this trip, and it was very tragic. I am still recovering from this loss.
7. The struggle for a good photo
No matter how hard you try to get the perfect photo with Walt and Mickey, and the beautiful castle in the background, you always get some stranger right behind you. I have some photos with strangers looking at the camera. I am sorry my family is better than yours, but I am going to have to ask you take your own family portrait, much thanks.
