Arguably one of the best things about being in college is having more control over your schedule than high school. However, some classes are only offered once or twice a day, and usually at pretty odd times too. Seeing a 7 a.m class on your schedule with no other available time slots is probably one of the worst things for someone in college. And who could embody the thoughts and emotions of sleep deprived college students at 7 a.m better than Michael Scott?
1. Your alarm goes off, waking you up from another great dream
I can't count how many dreams I haven't been able to finish because of my alarm going off in the morning. Every time my morning starts with the blaring sound of my alarm, a little piece of me dies inside, but it's fine.
2. Hitting the snooze button one too many times
With great power comes great responsibility, and the snooze button is the ultimate power. It can cause you to go from having plenty of time to look nice and grab a coffee on the way to class, to running at the speed of light in a messy ensemble of clothes, trying to beat the professor to the door.
3. Finally getting out of bed and judging yourself in the mirror
Tyra Banks yelling, "I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU. WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU" is all I hear in my head at this stage. I'm sorry, Tyra. I didn't mean to let you down this way.
4. Trying to be positive about your hastily thrown together outfit
It's fine, we can't always look like a perfect ten. Just keep thinking about how if you hadn't hit the snooze button for the eighth time, you would have had more time to look better...
5. Leaving at 6:55 knowing it takes at least ten minutes to get across campus
I could be a professional speed walker considering how fast I can get across campus. It's probably just practice for mall walking once I'm retired.
6. Seeing your professor ahead of you and knowing you won't be able to catch up
"Maybe if I walk into class right behind them, they won't realize that I'm late..."
7. Finally sitting down and the person next to you asks how you're doing
It's seven in the morning, I am way more winded from a ten-minute walk than I should be, and I really don't want to be here. How do you think I'm doing?
8. Paying attention so at least you get something out of being up this early
"Alright let's take some awesome notes now."
9. And realizing you haven't retained anything your professor has said
It's fine, just ask your friend after class. They always take really good notes. And if they didn't, at least you won't be alone then.
10. And then acting like you're paying attention to avoid being called on
"Please, please, please do not call on me because I will honestly just walk out of the room."
11. Finally getting out of class and going back to bed
Nothing is better than the feeling of your blankets around you after getting up way too early to effectively function in a classroom.
