When I was in high school, my Rhetoric teacher asked me to write a Spoken Word, which is a mix of rap and poetry spoken in rhyme. With the choice to use or not to use music, one can write a series of lines in the form of a conversation, a declaration, or a letter.
I had no idea God was beginning a passion within me from a required assignment.
This piece, called, "Daily Purpose," came from God's story in my life. It was a busy season full of high school assignments, a part time job, and my intense desires to socialize and swing dance whenever I had a few moments to breathe. I knew I wasn't the only one who was busy; I also knew I couldn't be the only one who would focus so much on the world that she would forget to look to God.
I wanted to remind people of the meaning. The believer has absolutely everything in Christ! He is the reason we live and breathe, and our work and toil can turn to joy when we realize that we can give everything to our Savior as worship.
I am grateful for a chance to share this with you all; may God be glorified in the words He alone could have given me.
Daily Purpose
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28
Every day we wake up, get up,
breathe in, breathe out, and freak out.
It all just feels like routine. I mean,
we go to work for paper work and often thing just don't work
out! It's all hazy, and crazy, no time to pick daisies.
Our walls are up so high, we can't see the sun in the sky.
Our lives are spinning like a dreidel! Who is able
to stop and stand still inside
This chaos; This storm without refuge?
Take a look at life and then you
wonder: where are we going to go from here?
But if you close your eyes,
we stay awake at night
seeking truth in a sea of lies.
This fear inside eats us alive;
a madness, a sadness, what to wear, what to buy;
And, did I mention, this heart of imperfection
would go anywhere but the right direction?
The sense of wrong and right: What's wrong? What's right?
But look, here comes the light.
Did you forget you're made in the image of Christ?
His Glory, Love, and Grace keeps the fire burning inside.
Don't let a Monday or a not-so-fun-day ever get to you!
You're twice born, wrath paid. The Maker of the universe loves you!
Why live in fear when He is near? Why let this world define you?
When it all fades, your purpose stays. You will always stand by the unchanging,
The Great I Am who holds the world in His hands-
He will always make a way for you.
If you're not true He's got this!
When you don't trust God's got this!
When life's a mess He's got this!
If you're hard pressed God's got this.l!
The struggle's real but,
Is He not God? Are you not man?
Is He not Strong? Please understand,
All you need-your purpose lies
inside the one who made you!
He walks on water, by the way;
He keeps you breathing! And when you fail,
He loves you anyway.
And if you close your eyes,
You know that life is real,
and every person you know can feel,
and has soul, has a heart, that could be in the dark.
But you have hope-don't let it go!
Are we not called to let it show?
Your search for purpose, look no farther!
He is near no need to wander
Aimlessly. Every life has meaning.
Your purpose is in God, so don't stop believing!
Worthless? Jesus said you were worth dying on a cross fo; worth taking God's wrath for!
Ugly? God spent more time making you then He did on the earth, on the stars, and on all of space and time!
Hopeless? There is no sin on this earth that God cannot or will not forgive if you call upon Him!
Unloveable? God walked off streets of gold to wash your dusty feet! He faced death to see you free!
Your purpose, in Christ, is to share in future glory
and to spread the Gospel, because His forgiveness set you free.
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand. - Proverbs 19:21

May God speak through these words.
