Upon first glance, I don't seem like the kind of person who likes ANY of these things. They are little known interests of mine and I hold them dear to my heart. I don't bring them up in conversation very often so some things on this list may surprise you! If they don't, then I should probably watch my back, because you might be stalking me.
1. Hiking
2. White Water Rafting
I know, crazy, right? It was something I tried with a youth group when I was about 11, and since then, I've been absolutely nuts about it. Me and my family used to go on mountain trips all the time, and I would always be so psyched to go white water rafting. It's intense, and my stomach is always sore after, but the rush I get from it is unparalleled to this day. I actually have a dream where I take a summer off in between graduation and Grad School and I become a white water rafting instructor.
3. National Parks
4. Drawing
I love drawing. And, truth be told, I'm actually pretty good at it. Obviously, I'm pretty out of practice and don't take it seriously enough to pursue an art career or anything, but it's always been something that I enjoy and something that I excel at. I can't paint for the life of me, but art in general is fun for me. I'm pretty good at all things on the art spectrum: singing, acting, drawing, writing, etc. But if you ask me to do a math problem I will literally freeze up. Like those fainting goat videos on Youtube.
5. Hockey
Wow, totally out of left field, right? Or should I say left ice. Hehe. (Wow, that was bad). But anyway, most people are very surprised to find that I am very fond of the Canadian Game of Hockey. I live in South Louisiana. What could have possibly propelled me toward the most northern sport in existence? Coincidence. I have a Canadian pen pal I met about 2 years ago and she kind of slowly introduced me to the sport. A few months ago, I decided to go to the gym more and at our gym, there is always some ESPN channel on. At the time, the World Cup of Hockey was pretty much the only thing on ESPN, because no other main North American Sport was in season. So I watched a hockey game on the elliptical. I lost track of time, and basically stayed on for the whole thing. I burned 1000 calories, and fell in love with hockey.
6.KPOP
Kpop, in my opinion, is infinitely better than American Pop music, despite not being able to understand the lyrics in the songs. The sound is more upbeat, the videos are way more interesting, and the subject matter of each song is far less racy and repetitive. I've always been a fan of Asian culture in general, so I really dove into Kpop and Korean culture in high school to the point where the only music on my phone was in Korean, and my browser history was mainly Korean TV shows and dramas. As I've gotten older, it has become less of an obsession, and more of a quirk in my personality. I listen to it occasionally (a.k.a. when I'm not listening to the Hamilton Soundtrack), often when I'm working out. (Don't knock it till you try it, KPop is the BEST workout music EVER.) But I no longer stay up till 3 AM to listen to a new album or see a new group debut. Good times, though.
7. (BONUS) Hum and Whistle
I can do both. At the time time. It sounds like a spaceship. Just in case you were wondering. (I know you were.)
Now you know 7 interesting-ish facts about me, and you can beat me in icebreaker games. Congrats! I hope this sheds some light on my personality because these quirks all make up who I currently am today.
