If you’re a blonde like me, you’ve probably heard all the jokes out there about your hair color. I guess being blonde just comes with the downfall of what you’re seen as and how society has shaped you. These demeaning stereotypes give rise to these common misconceptions.

1. Blondes are dumb.

This stereotype is dumb in itself. Let’s just say I know plenty of girls with other hair colors that aren’t so bright. Hair color does not affect your IQ level, and anyone in their right state of mind should know that. Self explanatory.

2. Blondes are only interested in their looks.

Of course, some girls love their makeup and looking at themselves in the mirror, but just because you're blonde does not mean you do it any more or less than anyone else. *cough cough* The Kardashians, anyone?

3. Blondes are always popular.

In movies, blondes are typically popular, while brunettes and redheads are seen as outcasts. In real life, hair color has absolutely nothing to do with your popularity (coming from a high school loser).

4. Blondes are weak.

.

Blondes typically die in horror movies and are terrible at sports. They're seen as girls who cannot protect themselves and usually run into the forest and get stabbed in the back, because they never saw it coming.

5. Blondes are sexy.

Seemingly, being called a "sexy blonde" is a compliment, right? Usually it would be, but it's been brought to another, more offensive level. I heard a saying recently that went like "men practice on blondes to marry brunettes." Being blonde, I find that extremely hurtful.

6. Blondes are mean.

I happen to know many blondes, including myself, who are caring, selfless, and loving. Even Regina George still has a heart deep down. Deep, deep down...

Originally, women started dying their hair blonde to become more sexy. This became over-sexualized, and women with this hair color were seen as good for nothing else. This is when they started to be portrayed as having no brains.

So next time you hear these jokes, please just follow Regina's orders, and:

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
