Have you ever spent a week in a hospital? While the professionals in these hospitals are well equipped for their jobs, I wish some things could be changed.
1. The wait in the Emergency Room
I get that there are a lot of people who are sick, but shouldn't you check out everybody as they come in? The wait is ridiculous. What if I'm sitting here dying? I won't know until I finally get into an emergency room an hour after I arrive.
2. All the sick people
Don't get me wrong, I understand people go there when they are sick. But if I'm sitting in the emergency room for their incredibly long wait, I don't want to catch something else!
3. The smell
I don't know if it is a combination of sick people, old people, puke or cleaning supplies but the smell is definitely something I could live without smelling.
4. Places for family members to sleep are minimal
While the patient should be the hospital's main priority, family members who decide they are going to stay with the patient need some chiropractic help after sleeping in the hospital for one night.
5. The food
Do they really expect you to eat this stuff with the gravy hard and cold over the mashed potatoes or a fake milkshake packed with nutrients you are beginning to not care about?
6. Nobody really tells you what is going on
Are you improving? Are you getting discharged? What is actually wrong? Can you get some milk? Can I go for a walk? You may or may not find these questions out. Just depends on who is your nurse or doctor.
At the end of the day, most people in the hospital are excellent at their jobs. I just wish we didn't have to deal with some things when you have to make the unfortunate visit to the hospital.
