Obviously, our dogs get us better than anyone else.

6 Ways Your Dog Understands College
Sara West

Being a college student is hard, especially when you have the weight of life pulling you in every direction. Coming from a girl who has been to three different colleges in one year (yes I know, I need to get my life together), I've realized that there is but one thing that remains constant through every move, broken heart, and long day, and that's your dog.

1. Some days you can't help but take a nap

We all have those days where the two shots of espresso we rely on just doesn't work. Between class, work and socializing, whats a girl to do? I remember so many days sitting in class hoping my eyes would stay open and my drool would stay in my mouth. No one understands midday napping better than your pup. Between chasing squirrels and stealing food off the table, the life of your dog is a hard one.

2. Some days, being around anyone is a bad idea.

I'm a pretty social girl, but I think we can all agree that some Friday nights, the idea of going out is scary. You've had a bad week, your hair won't stay curled and everyone is getting on your nerves. Being around people is a full time job, and sometimes, I don't even want to talk to anyone. It's perfectly normal to be grumpy and lock yourself in your room and binge watch a show. Our dogs get this except unlike us, they cant escape their owners and no matter what, they're our loyal companions, whether they like it or not.

3. Some days, life is good.

Ah yes, while life can sometimes be crazy, we do have those days where we feel like our mascara looks perfect and every song on the radio is an anthem to our awesome day. On those days, celebrate the blessings and make sure to count your dog because they are probably one of the biggest ones even though they hog half the bed and eat your food when you're not looking. Like everything else, your dog understands the bliss that is a good day. Pass the good karma on and reward your pup with a biscuit and a belly rub.

4. Some days, all you can do is accept the bad and pout a little.

Some things just can't be fixed, like a flat tire or a failed exam. When these type of things happen in life, there is nothing profound to say or do. All you there is left is to accept defeat, cry a little and then move on. Tomorrow is a new day. Your dog understands this better than anyone because your mood is theirs.

5. Some days, you feel like you've got your life together.

You stayed up all night, made a thousand note cards and downed three cups of coffee. In the midst of the piles of notes on the ground and the half eaten pizza, your dog is sitting with you watching you slave away at this crazy thing we call college. No one can quite show moral support like your pup friend. You may think no one sees your blood, sweat and tears, but your dog is there for it all. They see your long nights and your hair pulling moments. Rest in the fact that you're loved, and you have a forever study buddy.

6. Some days, we just need a little reassurance.

Much like our faithful furry friends, some days we need a little extra love. College is a scary time. When you're 20, you're expected to choose the path you'll walk for the rest of your life. Some days, you question every decision made, and you just need a phone call from mom telling you that everything works out in the end. Dogs are the same way. At the end of the day, go to bed hugging them a little tighter, because nothing makes them happier than knowing they're doing things right.

Our dogs are by our side through the good and the bad. They feel what we feel, and they loyally endure each bad and good day with us. Next time your'e feeling alone, remember that you're biggest fan is probably feet away.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
