If we are being honest here, California is one of the hotter states, with temperatures rising to triple digits quite often and it's not a joke when you're sitting there hot and sweaty.

So, what are a few ways you can "beat the heat" this summer?

1. Go to the beach.

I can't emphasize this enough. The beach is your best friend during the hottest days, so get out there, soak up the sun and have some fun.

2. Go to the water park.

Water parks are a great way to not only beat the heat, but a great way to spend your day. From the giant pool with the wave machine to the high sky water slide, that is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

3. Take a dip in the pool.

Ah, the swimming pool. It's like car insurance. Although you may not always use or need it, you invest in it because one day it will be there for you when you need it the most.

4. Have a water balloon fight.

You are never too old to have a water-run around the yard and throw a few water balloons at each other, especially when it's 105-degrees outside.

5. Turn the sprinklers on.

It's hot and you're too lazy to drive to the beach or you're one of those unlucky states that just don't have one. Well, do not fear, your sprinklers are always here! So turn them on and run around for a bit.

6. Buy a slip n' slide.

Invest in a slip n' slide. They're great. I'm serious. Too be able to slide on your stomach at five-mph on a soaking wet mat is truly one of the best things this world has to offer.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
