The spookiest, most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner. That's right! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Halloween is hands-down my favorite holiday of the year (even more than my birthday) and I love dressing up each year, basically going all out every single time. It can be incredibly fun to dress up like your favorite characters from your favorite movie or book, or even your least favorite vegetable.
But the one thing to keep in mind is to keep one's costume culturally-respectful and generally unproblematic. Here are a few examples of what you can be if you're stumped, without having to resort to a culturally-insensitive, or even potentially triggering outfit:
1. Wednesday Addams
Cause who wouldn't want to be her?
2. Hades
If you have blue hair, you already have half the costume.
3. Ghost
This one's a classic! Just take a pair of scissors to a bed sheet you're willing to sacrifice.
4. Pirate
Channel your inner Captain Jack Sparrow for a night.
5. Maleficent
Or really any other evil villain from a fairytale!
6. Or even a mouse
Follow Karen's footsteps, 'cause she knows how to be cute and aware!
As you ponder what you're going to be this week for Halloween, just remember: Have a fun time out there trick-or-treating or going to that party, and stay unproblematic!
