I guess we can all agree that 2016 has been a pretty bad year. From the loss of numerous beloved celebrities, to an extremely unfortunate US election result, it is easy to be prepared to move on to 2017 and never look back; but it is also easy to overlook the good things that happened this past year and truly deserve to be remembered.

1. Happy memories made with friends and family

It is impossible to have gone an entire year without making happy memories with people that you love. Hold on to those memories, since they are the ones that will be with you for the rest of your life.

2. All the new things we learned

Each year comes with new learning opportunities, whether they were intentional or not, and becoming wiser is always something we should be thankful for.

3. New people we met

Those new, interesting people you met this year have added more variety to your life and enriched it.

4. The people who are still with us

It is always hard to lose people that we love, but it should be a reminder to appreciate the people that are still with us and are making it through another year by our side. Don’t take anything or anyone for granted.

5. New opportunities and experiences we had

You have for sure done something this past year that you had never done before. Be thankful for new things you have had the opportunity to do.

6. We made it through another year

At the end of the day, if you’re reading this you can say you have made it through another year, and have been given another chance to live your life, which is why you should try to live it to the fullest every day.
