6 Things I'm Thankful For This Thanksgiving

The thing that I've always loved about Thanksgiving is that it's the perfect stopping point in the semester of one to gather their thoughts before the inevitable chaos of Finals Week rolls around. Though I have roughly five paper due in the next two weeks in the back of my mind, here's a few things that I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving.

1. Being Able To Come Home To See My Family

Thanksgiving doesn't have to be a time spent with family, but I'm so thankful that mine is. Going thousands of miles away from home is something I'll never regret, but when you go months without having your mama's cooking or seeing your own bed, you can start to miss your hometown too much to wait until Christmas Break.

2. Thanksgiving Dinner

Because Thanksgiving is by far my favorite meal of the entire year.

3. My School and the Opportunities I've Received From Going There

USC has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. Between the opportunity to spend four years living in L.A. and getting to be a part of one of the best journalism schools (and general schools) in the country, my college experience has brought so much into my life.

4. My Football Team

One of those things that USC has brought into my life is an amazing football team #fighton. And while I'm always thankful to be a fan of USC Football, I'm particularly thankful this year now that we're actually having a pretty solid season (byeeee UW).

5. My Friends and Family

I would be nowhere, particularly during this crazy semester, without the support of some truly incredible people in my life who support me no matter what (and I don't need a holiday to let them know how much I appreciate them, but it doesn't hurt to reiterate it).

6. My Future

Though everything following graduation is very up in the air, I'm thankful that so much potential lies in the unknown next year. And even though the uncertainty is scary, all I can do is enjoy what's left of college, and life will sort itself out.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
