6 Things I'm Not Too Afraid To Admit

There are some things I need to get off my chest.

1. I’ve never read Harry Potter.

Nope, I have not read a single book…and I am an English Education major, so I suppose I stink at fulfilling that stereotype, although I love Steinbeck and drink too much coffee, so I must be doing something right.

2. I care way too much and also not enough…about everything.

This either makes perfect sense to you or you are completely baffled, and I’m just going to leave it that way.

3. I watch documentaries…for fun.

Enough said.

4. I’m terrified to admit some things.

Nobody’s this totally bold person who’s just willing to admit everything, but that doesn’t mean you have to be too afraid to share it. Fear doesn’t have to be what prevents you from saying what needs to be said. That’s not to say I’m going to admit everything I’m terrified of admitting right here on a social media website for everyone to see (there’d be no point in that), but I might as well admit I’m equally as scared as anyone else when it comes to admitting things, so if you know me on a personal level, don’t think I’m some fearless human being just because I’ve had a few good days.

5. I am a Christian

That’s not to brag or show I’m doing something right. It’s just who I am and why would I be too scared to admit that? Sometimes I have my doubts, like everybody else, but I’ve always come back to Jesus and if I didn’t, I wouldn’t still be here, so why not share that?

6. I love stepping out of my comfort zone.

I really do. I’ve learned to actually like the feeling of being outside of my comfort zone, and the more I do it, the wider my comfort zone. I don’t know how I became okay with this process, but I did. It doesn’t mean I’m not cringing at the thought of doing whatever new thing you’ve just asked me to do, but I’ll sure as heck be the first to volunteer.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
