6. Your College Professors are Pretty Cool!

Yes, sadly it stings a bit when we reflect back on it. Remember when our teaches tried to warn us that college professor's won't tolerate your shortcomings and we should be grateful we have them. Sorry to break it to them, college professors are some of the funniest people I ever met. From experience, they are there to help you and want nothing more to see you succeed. Plus, having a good bond with your professor is a key to succeed in college and beyond!

5. Friends are not Forever.

I know I know, your high school bestie and you promised to always keep in touch. When you move to college things happen and that's alright because it is all about creating new experiences with a whole bunch of people. There are thousands of people on campus waiting to connect with you. Be careful who you trust and enjoy yourself.

4. ALWAYS KEEP A WATERPROOF UMBRELLA WITH YOU!

I'm not joking, depending on where you live rainy days are a nightmare especially when you have a class on the other side of campus. I recommend a standard black umbrella, specifically the EEZ-Y Windproof one. It is literally a lifesaver when the sky all of a sudden decides it's done for the day.

3. Go Visit your Local Coffee Shops and College Libraries!

A freshman probably not knowing a ton of people can be frightening. By visiting your local coffee shops you not only encounter so many people like you, you are supporting your local businesses! (Go local) It is a fun way to stay motivated away from the craziness on campus or your roommates in your dorm. By going to libraries you can connect with so many people from your major who are studious just like you. That's what I call a lasting bond.

2. Support the Fine Arts.

A big round of applause to the Fine Arts without them all the delacacies in life will cease. If you want some quality entertainment and tired of the same old thing go to your school's fine arts shows. Honestly I'm taken away by the dedication these performers have. Plus, it is a good way for you and your friends to strengthen your bond. It can go from ballet, musical theater, opera, etc it is something you need to experience at least once.

1. Join a Club!

A way to connect and build up your resume is to join the hundreds of clubs/organizations on campus. Do your research before you join anything first. Think of your interests, try writing a list of all the things you enjoy doing. Once that is done, start researching and make sure those club's ideals align with yours. I met people who I now consider my lifelong friends.

Lastly, college is supposed to be the best years of your life. Do not let it slip by you, you are in charge of your own life make sure its one you want.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
