It is not rare for me to be told that I do not look my age, and it is a compliment when you tell me that I look older today or more mature. I know you are probably thinking that this is a problem that isn’t worth complaining about, but that is because you have never experienced it. I am constantly told that I look way younger than I am. Here are phrases that people who look younger than they are always hear.
1. “You will appreciate it when you are older.”
Maybe I will, but I won't experience the perks of looking young for at least another 15 years.
2. “There is no way you are actually *enter age*.”
First you guess my age wrong and then you don’t believe me when I tell you. Ouch.
3. “You look 12.”
For some reason 12 is the magical number whenever someone thinks of an age. I am guilty of this too, but I do not look 12. I would say I look more 16 so 12 is an insult.
4. “Ah 14! That is a perfect age for babysitting!”
Like I said previously, at least give me a couple more years.
5. “You are so cute!”
When you always look younger than you are, you never move past adorable. Every person who is your age will continue to call you adorable as you age because you will always look younger than them. Looking young doesn’t necessarily mean beauty.
6. “You look a lot older today.”

Everyone that looks young gets offended when someone tells them they do not look their age. But all those young looking people like me must take into consideration the benefits. We can go somewhere wearing no makeup and pull off paying for a child ticket while others can’t. We have to remember that most of the time when we want to look our age, we do — so we can have the benefit of looking our age and looking younger when wanted.
