Eventually there comes a day in all of our lives when we finally hit the big day. The most important birthday of all: your 21st. I am sure there are things we all expect to happen on our 21st birthday, and with just experiencing mine, here are six things that happen to on the day/night of finally becoming legal in Bloomington- Normal
1. Everyone at the bar will buy you shots/drinks.
You don’t even have to know the person that is suddenly buying you shots, but that sash you have hanging around you is a sign that screams “buy me a drink it’s my birthday”. So take advantage of this and try not to spend a dime on your big day.
2. You go to every liquor store and get something for free.
707 liquor stores are notorious for giving newly legals shots of fireball on their big day so make sure you hit up both for double the fun.
3. No matter what day of the week it is you’ll be downtown at midnight.
It doesn’t matter if you’re going to pub, uptown, or downtown, any day of the week you’ll be able to find somewhere with deals and your friends will always be down to celebrate with you.
4. Your first legal purchase will probably be at Binny’s.
If you’re not stocking up at Binny’s Beverage Depot on your big day and finally getting that Binny’s card, then what are you doing?
5. You’ll be drinking every day that week.
No matter what day your birthday is on, something is happening in blono. If your day isn’t on a weekend... that’s okay! Here’s a list of places to do go for everyday of the week fun: Drifters does trivia Monday nights, Brewha’s on Tuesday, Pub Wednesday, Fiesta for Thursday, Downtown Friday and Saturday, and hit up Maggie’s on a Sunday for their daily specials featured all day!
6. House parties stop being a threat.
Those house parties you use to walk into wondering if they were going to get busted are no longer a problem in your mind. If a cop shows up all you have to do is whip out that I.D. and not be rude. So say hello to worry-free lodge parties and unlimited jungle juice.
