6 Things I Learned From Gilmore Girls

I recently started binge watching Gilmore Girls, and here are six things I learned from Gilmore Girls thus far.

1. You are your own motivator.

Rory is the ultimate motivator. No one has to tell her to do her homework. She motivates herself because she wants to get into Harvard.

2. Parents can be scary.

Even though she doesn't have a Korean accent and didn't make me go to Bible college, or only date Korean boys, my mom can be pretty scary at times. (She also didn't make me eat tofurkey for Thanksgiving. So maybe I should call my Mom and thank her.)

3. Miss Patty has more game than anybody I know.

That woman is all about confidence, and she has no shame.

4. Sometimes, you are more like your mother than you think or wish to realize.

Yeah, it's a weird cycle that just keeps going, even when you try to stop it.

5. You can follow your dreams.

The greatest lesson I learned from watching Gilmore Girls is that I can pursue my dreams at any age.

6. Don't be afraid to need your parents.

The independent Rory needed Lorelai after going away for college. There is nothing wrong in asking for help from your parents (even if you still call your mom to make your doctor's appointment at 21). It's what they are there for.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
