1. Everyone Is Excited To See Each Other All In One Place
Just because everyone is excited to see each other, doesn't mean that everyone lives by the same household rules. Just keep that in mind when someone wears their shoes all through your house, or tells you that "you're not a young lady until you wear pantyhose".
2. In Every Group, There Is Inevitably One Bad Cook
Thankfully, in my family they realize that, and have found a lovely bakery to get desserts from. But if that one person has yet to realize it--they will when you don't eat their special dish. Save the drama and just eat it! Take it from someone who has learned the hard way!
3. Offer To Help Out
Offering to do the dishes, set the table or other chores earns you MAJOR brownie (pumpkin pie?) points! And it's rare that your family would take you up on your offer... But on the flipside, everyone just saw how well mannered you are as they set out to start holiday shopping tomorrow (RE: nice gift!)
4. The Kid's Table
It's pretty much an un-spoken rule (at least in my family, and probably many others) that you'll pretty much end up sitting at the kid's table until you have kids of your own. And the kids table, means apple juice only!
5. The Shopping
Black Friday offers amazing deals on shopping, and nowadays stores start even earlier (like 5pm Thanksgiving Day)...But don't be that one person who leaves right in the middle of dinner to go shopping! Go as a family, or wait until Friday morning... Again more brownie points!
6. Football
Don't forget to sit down with the entire family and watch a football game or two! It's the best low-pressure way to catch up over snacks (or post-meal food coma) and some friendly family rivalry!
