With finale exams quickly approaching, here are some study habits I have found useful. If you like to get work done in advance, or procrastinate until the last minute, there's sure to be something here that works with your study habits!
Give yourself enough time before hand to study
Don't put off studying until the day before. Trust me, it doesn't work. Even if you think you know the material well it still helps to review all the information you took in over the quarter.
Practice using old exams
Some professors pull questions for the final off of past exams. Even if they don't, you can get used to the style of questions that might end up on the final. Going over questions you got wrong will help with a cumulative exam.
Explain your answers to others such as your friends
It is easier to remember information when you repeat it to others. Just like it's easier to remember information by writing it by hand instead of typing it, sharing what you know with your friends helps to make sure you really know the information you're talking about.
Don't pull an all-nighter - get enough sleep
Nothing is worse than falling asleep during your exam and ending up with a zero as your score. Make sure you get enough sleep the night before. You'll be able to think more clearly and remember what you studied about from the days before.
Find a spot that you're comfortable studying in
I find it hard to focus when studying in my dorm so I usually try and find a space in a campus building or the library. If the library is super crowded, which mine usually is during dead and finals week, chances are your campus has some hidden study spots spread out. Or try doing some work in a coffee shop.
Make your own study guide
I make my own study guides a lot. It's super helpful when professors make study guides for finals but customizing it can be beneficial as well. This can help you gauge what areas of a subject you need to go over.
