You search for the good ones, strike gold, wear 'em out, they get old, you need some new ones. Music is vital. Finding jams is a vicious cycle and I'm here to help you out.
So far, Flor has only released an EP and several singles. Their sound continually impresses me. When you listen to some bands, it takes up until the chorus for you to look forward to hearing more. Flor never lets me down, consistently capturing me within the first chord progression of every single song. Their lyrics are honest and their sound is ethereal.
Half Moon Run, "Turn Your Love."
A friend of mine showed me this song and it's been on repeat ever since. I feel like this song is simple and contained, but equally as full within its grounding sound. I'm obsessed with the singer's voice. He delivers the lyrics with a tone that carries such strong emotion behind it that I don't feel like I'm just listening to the song, I feel invested in it.
RVRB, "2faded."
Cameron Mitchell's lyrics in "2faded" captures different phases of a breakup: the stage of frustration, the "I'm mad I wasted my time on you" stage and the "I'm moving on, later" stage -- all while staying in the overall emotion of heartbreak. It has some teenage angst to it that we can all appreciate.
Transviolet, "Girls Your Age."
This song is super dramatic and whimsy. The lyrics peaked my interest as they described the naive recklessness of teenage girls. I felt like I stepped into the mind of a teenage girl who thinks nothing and no one will hurt her. What a thing to think. The song brought me to imagine that mindset as my own and made the song a bit depressing with a cool edge.
Sam Sure, "Me & You."
This song gives me more summer vibes than anything else. It's currently winter which is a little contradictory, but I think that's why I'm into it right now. I'm hella cold right now and this song makes me think of summer which I feel like subconsciously makes me feel 10x warmer -- that's a bold statement but I'm gonna stick with it. I really enjoy his voice being choppy in the build before the chorus, I don't hear that often. Plus, the sounds are just super chill and groovy. Ya can't deny it.
The Japanese House, "Letter By The Water."
Everything she freaking puts out, hits. Yes, the person singing is a girl. I was shocked too. Japanese House perfects true artistry, in my opinion, because I cannot compare her to anyone else. She's doing her own thing and she's killin it.
