Psychologies

There are many things that can cause a rough day: stress, financial issues, boys/girls, school, and even work. The list goes on and on even though we can't always pinpoint the true issue in your rough day, we can always find a way to cope through it.

Personally, music is my escape. I know for many college students they have different ways to escape their issues, but music is one of the best ways that I know how to cope with difficult situations. I know that there are many people out there who are struggling to find something to pull them out of a funk, here is my Sad Day playlist that I want to share with you!

1. "It's Your Life" Francesca Battistelli

This song is a religious song, but it is about taking control of your life. You choose how you want to live and when to take control. You don't need someone telling you what to know, the world is watching you, and no matter what you do, someone will know what choice you make. This song makes you think how you are acting and what to do to take control of your life.

2. "Nobody's Perfect" Hannah Montana

This is probably too girly for some of those manly men out there, but this song is actually really inspirational. (If you get passed the part that it is Hannah Montana) The song is literally called nobody's perfect, which cannot be said enough. There are too many people out there who think that they need to be perfect and get things right on the first try. People make mistakes. That's what makes us human and how we learn for the future.

3. "Purpose" Justin Bieber

This song has gotten me through so many dark days I can't even keep track. This is song is telling you to keep going on because you have purpose. There is a reason you are here on this Earth and no one can take that away from you. Whether you are upset about something temporary or permanent, it happened for a reason. The song states that "You give me purpose", but the person who gives you that purpose may just be yourself. You don't need anyone to tell you that you are worth it, look ahead to brighter days that are on the horizon.

4. "Fly" Maddie&Tae

This song is one of my favorite to listen to when I feel like I can't reach my goals. It reminds you to always push forward no matter what is going on in your life. You have put so much effort toward your goal to stop trying before you reach it. There may be nothing going your way, but you should never give up. Keep pushing to prove the naysayers wrong.

5. "#GetItRight" Miley Cyrus

This is a song about trying until you get it right, there may or may not be an obstacle, but you have to try. This is mainly about relationships, you can apply it to other things, but I always listen to this when I am having relationship issues. When you are with a partner, you know what makes them tick. Honestly this song doesn't have that much deeper meaning that trying to have make-up sex with your partner, I just really like the beat.

6. *Any song that you can rap all the way through flawlessly*

This is my favorite *insert song title here* because rapping literally makes a day so much better. Especially when you can rap it from start to finish flawlessly. This is always the song I save for when I am almost out of my slump because it is like finally climbing all the way out of the hole you have been sitting in all day.

This is not my entire Sad Day playlist because we would have a list of 50 songs, and no one wants to see all of the songs that I can rap flawlessly (mostly flawless). These may or may not help you out of a slump as they do me, but if they do help I am glad! This just leaves me with one question, what is your favorite pick-me-up song?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
