When the struggle is too real

6 Signs You Are Not Ready To Adult

It is crazy to look back and realize how far you have come. One moment you are hanging out with friends and then it hits you; you are starting your junior year in college and it really makes you appreciate and embrace every moment. It does not seem to go by fast, but it really does. And in college especially, it is hard to keep up with the pace and keep a routine that works and is productive. Here are some reasons why you may not be ready to adult.

1. You never know what day it is.

You are always asking friends, classmates, and teachers what the date is. You check your calendar at least twice a day because you forget what day of the week it is.

2. You are always losing your phone, wallet, keys, etc.

You think you leave it in the same place every time, but you keep losing track. You have to ask your friends on a daily basis to go on an adventure and help you look for them.

3. You are a pro at procrastination.

You think you have more time than you do and sometimes you work better under pressure. However, it is at the cost of getting no sleep or handing in late assignments.

4. You stay up way too late and oversleep the next morning.

Whether it’s because you are doing homework or hanging out with your friends and watching movies, you don’t go to sleep at normal hours. A lack of sleep causes you to turn off your alarm when it rings and go back to bed, sometimes missing class.

5. You forget to write down the homework.

You were so focused on what you were going to eat for lunch that you forgot to write down the homework and you have to text your friends and ask them.

6. You do not do laundry until the last possible moment.

You are either too busy with homework or you just say, “Oh I will do it later” but you never actually get around to doing it. You are upset because you won’t be able to wear one of the four or five outfits you always wear.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
