Road trips are great. They're even better when they're with others. Time spent traveling is never wasted. However, there are both good and bad things about road trips:
1. You'll get bored, fast.
Make all of your Spotify playlists available offline, bring a book or just sleep through the trip when you're not driving. Ninety-nine percent of the things you'll see while on a road trip are semis and grassy fields.
2. The U.S. is huge.
Once you've driven across the country or even just across multiple states, you see how big the U.S. is. Looking at the sky while driving on the highway makes you feel small and insignificant; there's so much more to life than just ourselves and the bubble that we're in.
3. You'll get to see new sides of your friends or significant other.
Soon, you'll get to see them sleep-deprived, ugly-sleeping and bored as all hell. You'll know the music that they secretly love to listen to but don't tell anyone (you only find out when it comes up on their playlist). The conversations will range from slightly normal to really odd, and you wouldn't have it any other way.
4. You will also get annoyed at the people you're with.
No matter how much you love your friends/family/significant other, there's going to be periods when you get mad at them over the smallest things. It's expected when you're in a small space for hours.
5. There's no amount of sleep that's will make you feel better.
Every sleep position feels awful; you'll be tossing and turning in your seat longer than you actually sleep. Add that to the noise that the other people in the car are making, and you won't sleep at all.
6. You'll appreciate the things you take for granted.
When you're in Middle of Nowhere, Wyoming, and have to stop at a restroom, you'll appreciate indoor plumbing, as well as cell service. Most of all, you'll appreciate spending time with the people you care about.
