6 Reasons Why My Oldest Friend Is My Best Friend
Kayla Ebner

I have an old friend, yet our relationship is good as new. Throughout the countless years that we've been by each others' sides, she's helped me enjoy life in a way that I otherwise wouldn't have. My best friend is an oldie, but a goodie. I wouldn't trade her for the world and here's why:

1. She knows me best

After being friends with someone for so long, you effortlessly learn everything about them. From the true meaning behind my facial expressions, to the way I like my steak cooked, my best friend knows it all. Sometimes, I get a little worried that my bestie might know me better than I know myself. That's scary, but at the same time, refreshing.

2. She's seen it all

The best part about my lifelong BFF is that she's been there for me through it all. Her watching me go through every obstacle in my life has formed our relationship into one of understanding and compassion. I also don't have to explain myself to her because she always already knows.

3. We never fight

When you're around someone for your entire life, you become accustomed to their temperament. You know what makes them moody just as much as you know what sets you off yourself. By being so familiar with the way they react, it's a breeze to stay on their good side.

4. I'm comfortable with her

This girl has seen me at my absolute worst. Thank you, best friend, for letting me snuggle up to you after not showering for way too long. Honestly, you probably don't mind because you are just as disgusting as I am... 'nuff said.

5. I know she'll never leave

She's stuck around for this long, that I know she's not about to walk out of my life anytime soon. Our relationship is one of the only ones I've known to be so secure. When we have a rare rough patch in our friendship, we work through it knowing that it'd be impossible to go more than a few days without speaking. The silent treatment simply just doesn't work with these kinds of friends, probably because she'll make you laugh within the first twenty minutes.

6. She's the closest thing I've got to a twin

I think it's an understatement to say that we've rubbed off on each other. Throughout our lives, we've become interested with almost all of the same things. I'm pretty sure that being around each other so much has caused us to begin looking alike, too. I'm so glad I have someone to share my interests with, and someone who understands me better than anyone else.

Best friend, thanks for everything. You're the one person I could never get bored of. We're the kind of friends that could sit in a silent room together and never become restless. I wouldn't trade my past with you for the world, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. Can't wait to be your maid of honor and your first-born's godmother... right?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
