Now that summer break has finally graced us with its presence, I have two things on my mind: finding a summer job (which isn't necessarily the most exciting of the two) and vacation. I have taken a few trips with friends, but for the most part I always vacation with my family. In my opinion, these trips are the most fun and rewarding (and hopefully this article will convince my family members who read this that we are long overdue for a big family trip).
1. You're never by yourself.
When the adults want to do things that the kids can't, aren't old enough for or when they simply want a break, no one will be stuck with just one or two other people. They'll have their cousins and possibly grandparents to find their own thing to do and keep themselves entertained.
2. If you forget something, four other people probably have it.
Having a bigger family comes with many perks. We're all so similar that even if you forgot to pack half of everything you needed, it is guaranteed that at least four other people will have those things.
3. You don't have to act your age.
Even though I am one of the youngest in my family, having people younger than me was always a bonus. You never have to worry about wanting to do something childish when you can use the younger members of your family as an excuse.
4. As always, any vintage family picture is pretty good entertainment.
I think this one speaks for itself.
5. They create traditions and stories.
Family vacations quickly turn into traditions. For my family, it was going to Hershey Park, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, every summer (I'm still confused as to why we stopped going). These traditions become stories and memories that will get passed on for years and years. I can promise you that my kids will hear all of my stories until they are sick of them.
6. It is quality time with your family.
If you couldn't tell by my previous writing, I value quality time with the ones I love. There is no better way to have an amazing and happy time with your family then on a group vacation.
