If you go to, have ever been to, or if you have ever even thought about Harding University, then you know Bruce. If you know Bruce, you know awesome. It's just a fact of life. But just how awesome is he? Well, aside from being the President and just generally being the coolest human being on planet Earth, here are a few of the many reasons why everyone loves Bruce.
1. Bruce owns social media
If Elvis is the King of Rock and Roll, Bruce is the King of social media. Bruce has disproven the theory that millennials are the only ones who know how use social media. Bruce does social media better than you.
2. He is the epitome of humility
Bruce is humble to a T. For instance, some people would flaunt the title of president--they would make sure all around them know who they are. Not Bruce; he doesn't care. In fact, he lets people refer to him as "that chapel guy." He's a savage, he's better than all of us and doesn't even care, because he's a saint.
3. He goes with you
Bruce loves his students and wants to be a part of their adventures. Our fearless leader will go anywhere with his students. Literally anywhere. Do yourself a favor and search #tobruceandbeyond on Instagram. You're welcome!
4. He remembers your birthday even when your mom doesn't
We all know the struggle of being in college when our parents suddenly decide that we don't need a birthday present any more. Never fear, Bruce is here! He puts other presidents to shame by remembering each of his student's birthdays, and as if that wasn't enough, he sends them a gift too! Countless chicken biscuits have been eaten in his honor as students always feel loved and appreciated by The Dr. Bruce D. McLarty. Thanks, Bruce!
5. Bruce Undersands
For those students who frequently use Instagram or Twitter, you can easily see that Bruce feels our pain. At the end of the fall 2014 semester, it wasn't just students involved in the #optionalfinals frenzy. Bruce jumped on board with the students and started campaigning for optional finals as well showing us that he gets it--he understands that the struggle is real. So, Bruce...#optionalfinals2016?
6. Bruce makes it great to be at Harding
For those who know Bruce, you know how great he actually is. He is an incredible man of God who fears Him with all his heart. Bruce genuinely cares about everyone around him: the students, the faculty, the staff, and the community. He is real with the students and even as president, he is still someone we can all relate to. I think I speak for the entire student body when I say that Bruce McLarty truly does make it even better to be at Harding!
