6 Reasons To Cherish Your College Friends

No matter where life takes us, we’ll always have the memories of our friends to bring us back together.

Let’s be honest. None of us probably would have made it to graduation year if it weren’t for the very best friends we’ve made while in college. Whether it be from stressing out over all the crap we have to get done for our classes to hanging out every weekend to de-stress ourselves from the week, we all have those friends who are there for us no matter what.

Now, for some of us, this is our last year. And it can be hard to think of an uncertain future that could bring us closer together with friends or could tear us apart. But the important thing we have to remember as we go through these next couple of weeks is that no matter where life takes us, we’ll always have the memories of our friends to bring us back together.

1. Teachers

We’ve all had those professors. The ones who drive us absolutely crazy and who seem to think we don’t have lives outside the classroom. Well, fear not, because your friends will most likely have already had that professor, will be taking the same class as you and want to rant about it, or will just know from experience what you’re talking about and will act a therapist for your stressful day.

“Mhm, yes, and how does that make you feel?”

2. “Working together” on class projects

If you’ve had or currently have the same class with your friends, there will most likely come a time when huge projects or papers are due. Sometimes these study groups can be really successful. But, let’s be honest, it’s a constant struggle between wanting to get the work done and catching up on the latest tea.

3. School field trips

Someone is no doubt always down for a cheap trip to NYC or other awesome weekend destinations! Trust me, going on a school-organized trip somewhere with your friends for a weekend or even a day will really bring you all closer together.

4. Weekends out

These are honestly the best way to detox from the stress of the regular week. Even if you’re tired from work or you don’t think you have time because of schoolwork, go. Going out to have some good, quality fun-time with your friends is the best way to start a brand new week.

5. After-class dinners

If you have one of those classes with your friends that ends at 5:50 pm, after-class meals is another great way to bond. Even if it’s just going to your college’s cafeteria for a cheap and quick bite, it’s nice to have a little bit of time to talk with your friends after the day is done to recap or to share great stories with one another.

6. Pow-wow sessions

We all have those days or times when we just need a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to us. And the great thing about having friends in college is because you can unload everything in between classes. It’s always good to know someone is there for you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
