6 Reasons To Be Thankful For Younger Sisters

After being an only child for 8 1/2 years, some might think being graced with the arrival of a little sibling would be annoying. I always felt the opposite, and have loved every minute of having a mini-me by my side! Here are some reasons having a little sister is the best!

1. They'll always look up to you

Being the big sister means you're almost instantly the coolest person in the whole world to your little sis. It never gets old having someone look up to you and while it can sometimes get annoying to have someone trying to be just like you, I wouldn't want anyone else but my sister to be just like me!

2. They're your biggest fan

Little sisters are always there to cheer you on! My sister is incredibly supportive of everything I do, and nothing makes me feel happier than when she compliments me on something I'm proud of. Having your family support you and celebrate your accomplishments always means a lot!

3. You can steal their stuff

Even though we have a serious age gap, my sister is a great source of...well...everything. From clothes, to shoes, to food and art supplies, my sister's room is the holy grail of stuff! While it might suck that she's almost as tall as me at age 10 - it has the benefit of me having double the stuff!

4. You can make them do things for you

In addition to being your number one fan and always looking up to you, having a little follower results in the occasional, 'hey can you get this for me.' Being as lazy as I am, sometimes I'm not sure how I would live without my little sister constantly doing things I don't want to do. (Thanks always, El!)

5. They're great company

After being away at college most of the time, coming home is my favorite thing because it means I get to spend time with my little best friend! Little sisters make everything more fun - whether it be driving around listening to music, watching movies at home, or going grocery shopping - anything is better when my little sis is around!

6. They'll love you forever

Finally, having a little sister has shown me the power of unconditional love. From the minute she was born, I knew that through thick and thin she'd always be my best friend - and so far that's very true!

To little sisters everywhere, thanks so much for being you! We love you always, and we think you're super great...most of the time, that is!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
