Sure, names like "Scampers" and "Milky Way" are... cute, if you're into that kind of thing. But not me. I am no amateur when it comes to naming cats. I mean, yeah, I've been through a few bumps in the road to get here (no offense to my first cat "Kitty"), but I am much more mature now.
My cat's name is Dave. That's right. Dave. I know, What a manly cat, you thought to yourself.
Giving my cat a human name was the best decision I have made thus far in life. And here is why I think you all should do the same:
1. It's an easy excuse
Getting out of plans when you don't want to hang out with someone has never been so easy.
Hey, are we still going to the library after class?
Oh, sorry, I forgot that I have plans with Dave; maybe another day!
2. You sound like you actually have social life/love life.
But in reality, you still get to be the cat lady that you've always been destined to be.
OMG, I totally cuddled with Dave all night last night. Yeah, we hung out all night.
3. You can carry conversations with your cat without sounding like a lonely cat lady.
If your neighbors overhear you, have no fear. They just think you've invited a pal over for lunch to catch up!
How was your day, Dave? I've missed you!
4. You sound like you are hipster, unique and creative.
Well, how many cats do you know with human names? Nobody names their animals like that, because it's weird! But by doing so, you look like the ultimate trendsetter!
"Awwwww, what's your cat's name?"
"Kathy. I know, super original. She's just such a hipster cat, I had to."
5. It could be an easy way to get out of a date that's not going well.
For all he knows, you could be talking about your human newborn.
I'm sorry I have to run, but I have to go feed Dave.
6. Your best friend sounds like a normal human being.
Because let's be honest, your feline friend will always be your best pal.
