“Your best friend doesn’t have a soul.” Well that can’t be true because she’s my soulmate. These are a few reasons (although not the only reasons) why those kids with red hair make the best BFF’s.
1. They can never get lost in a crowd. Lost at a concert? Lose them on the beach? Not to worry: Just look for the shining beam of red light, and you shall find them. This is most helpful in a whole lot of situations involving alcohol.
2. Everybody knows who they are, which turns into perpetual fame. Hot guys, athletic directors, deans, professors (unfortunately). “Aren’t you friends with the redhead? Why weren’t you two in class today?” I swear if she wasn’t in my class, he would have never noticed. But then, the hot guy in class knows who I am because I am friends with the redhead, so we’ll call it even.
3. They are extremely loyal. As we all know, loyalty is a top quality in a best friend. Redheads are loyal. Loyal AF. I think I read this in a book somewhere, or maybe on the Internet? And since everything we read on the Internet is true, just know that you will very rarely, if ever, have to worry about your redhead BFF screwing you over.
4. The effort you put into cleaning the house/apartment/townhouse will double, but this makes for a cleaner living space. This really applies to redheaded roommates. Hair everywhere. Red hair on the bathroom floor, in the shower, on the couch, woven in my clothes, in my boyfriend's house. Everyone that knows them even through a mutual friend will probably one day find a hair that has been tracked into their house someway, somehow.
5. They have a great sense of humor. They have grown up being teased about their hair, and they have a comeback for every single ginger comment you could ever come up with.
6. They can never really lie to you. Their face is the ultimate lie detector. Bright red with everything: lies, embarrassment, too much sun, you name it. This also goes back to the whole loyalty thing. An always-honest friend is what we all look for in our best pals, am I right?
Here’s to those gingers in our life… You guys are the greatest (and the most unique).
