In the technology-advanced world we live in today, there are countless ways to access music. All of these methods are better compared to older times when we had to wait for a CD to come out in stores so we could pick up a hard copy. However, there is one app that is changing the game of streaming our favorite music, and going above and beyond the average way to access songs. Here are just some of the many reasons that 8tracks is a superior way to jam compared to Pandora and Spotify.

1. No commercials

Nothing kills your workout or study session quicker than your favorite playlist being interrupted by a commercial for a movie you’ve already seen or a college you’re obviously not going to be attending. Possibly the best feature about 8tracks compared to its competitors is that there are virtually no commercials. You can listen to hours of music without having to sit through pointless adds every 10 minutes.

Obviously so are the other options, unless you’re using a premium version of the app, but as a broke college student, it doesn’t hurt to throw that advantage in the mix anyway.

8tracks goes beyond letting you choose from your favorite artist in order to build a playlist. Instead, you can choose your emotions like sad, upbeat, and chill. You can even choose songs that others recommend for whatever activity your doing while listening such as working out, studying and even driving. It’s clear that 8tracks is trying to maximize our music experience by selecting music that fits our lifestyle.

4. Created for the people, by the people

8tracks is made up of millions of playlists created by users of their app. With actual people generating the soundtracks, there are music combinations that work well together that maybe you never thought to try. This is so much more effective than having a computer system generate your entire music listening experience.

5. Essentially unlimited song skips per hour

While 8tracks technically limits skips, these skips are only for each playlist. Once you move to a new playlist your skips regenerate and there is no limit to how many playlists you can go through per hour. So basically, you can stream through music quickly and efficiently without having to suffer through songs you have no taste for.

6. A whole new spin on remixes

The number one reason I chose to delete Pandora and switch to 8tracks was the originality. I was tired of hearing the same boring songs on Pandora. Most of their material was unoriginal and bland. By getting to know 8tracks I discovered that most of their playlists are made up of cool remixes to some of my favorite songs. 8tracks truly is the gamer changer of original music streaming.
