6 Reasons Ingrid Michaelson Should Have More Fans

Last week I went to an Ingrid Michaelson concert. I drove two hours after work and classes to her opening night then went to work and classes from 10 a.m. to midnight. That might sound like complaining but it was totally worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat, because Ingrid Michaelson is great! And here's why...

1. Michaelson is super relatable.

She lets you know that she is not perfect and just as awkward as you. Whether it's watching "Home Alone" on her tour bus, excessive use of Snapchat filters or her inability to turn down bread, Michaelson seems more normal than most musicians.

2. She appreciates her band.

I have listened to other artist and been to other concerts where the musician's band is not really mentioned. Michaelson brings her band up for recognition and does a sing-along with them. She makes sure her fans know how much she appreciates her band and that they should too.

3. Michaelson's a fan of sing-alongs.

I mean who doesn't like a good sing-along? I know I do. Every concert includes a sing-a-long with the band and lots of audience participation. Although some people might like to only hear Michaelson sometimes, I love when she gives us a chance to sing-along. It makes the concerts so much fun and really adds a different element.

4. She's very personable.

From telling us about her first kiss to break-ups to talking about her mother, she is very open with her fans. She also shares a lot on social media and is very funny.

A great example of this was at the concert Michaelson said she was tired of fans taking bad photos of her and the band so she gave us a photo op where they all wore props and boas and did fun and different poses.

5. Michaelson has a song for every mood.

In just three songs she took us through an emotional roller-coaster. From happy and upbeat to somber and sad and ended with a sassy break-up song.

I know this is fairly common but I still think it's worth noting the variety of music. She as slower songs, songs that are great to sing to, and up-beat songs that are great to dance to.

6. Her songs have a meaning and are about so many parts of life.

Here is where I'll give you some song suggestions.

She has some great break-up songs about not looking back and dwelling on past relationships too much. Check out "Time Machine," "Hell No," and "I'm Through."

She has some really meaningful songs too. For example "I Remember Her" is about her mother who died in 2014.

She has songs about being who you are no matter what. Check out "The Way I Am," and "Miss America."

She has love songs. Check out "You and I," "Corner of Your Heart," "Little Romance," and "End of the World"

And she has songs to make you feel better about a bad situation. Check out "Afterlife," "Be OK," and "Celebrate."

I love Michaelson's indie-pop-rock mix and her personality. I think she's different than a lot of musicians and that makes me like her even more. She's got a great voice and great music that I think is definitely worth checking out.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
